Letter from the President

Dear Readers,

Dina Dwyer-OwensSpring has sprung and, if you’re like me, you probably feel reinvigorated by the vibrant life that blooms outdoors. It’s that same natural energy that gets me in the mood to spruce up my house, which has been hibernating all winter.

Sure, you’ve heard about spring cleaning, but I’m talking about much more than a superficial dusting. You see, the average home in America is now about 32 years old, and that can translate into a lot of wear and tear on one of your most prized possessions. So this spring, we invite you to look at ways to get things into shape as we at The Dwyer Group dive into one of our heaviest seasons for bringing homes back to their peak condition. And as we celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2006, we’re eager to share our years of knowledge and experience with you, our customers, to put a fresh perspective on caring for your home.

In this issue, our experts pipe up, literally, about what you do and don’t want to put down your disposal. We share some advice about electrical inspections and aluminum wiring from the old days. We gauge thermostats on the market as well as new government efficiency requirements for air conditioners. And if you’re taking the remodeling plunge this year, our designers have provided some useful tips for determining your style and have provided the latest news on kitchen flooring for your project.

I hope it’s just the start of things that spring you into action to make your home the best that it can be. And from me to you, remember to enjoy the season indoors and out as things begin anew.
