April showers, May flowers, and spring time birthday parties are upon us! Staples for a young one’s celebration: cake, goodie bags, and games. Right? This year, take it a step further. Craft those traditional requirments into a theme; it provides a great way to get everyone participating in the party, kids and parents alike.
This party hosts a fresh and wacky idea. There were cupcakes, carousels, clowns, and quite a crowd. Welcome to the carnival!
No themed party can have too many decorations. You really want to make sure it feels authentic no matter what theme you pursue. This desert spread left wide-eyed children looking like “kids in a candy shop” and not surprisingly so!
No item was left bare – special attention was even paid to personally labeled water bottles! (This can be done using printables from any online collection. Simply print the desired label from your computer and attach the ends together using any kind of bond, double-sided tape works fine. You can hide it inside the label and don’t have an unattractive backside.)
Another item of utmost importance is the goodie bag; they must correspond with your theme. In this case, a carnival is a show and what show is complete without popcorn? We used popcorn canisters and filled them with goodies. Snap a few tickets off of a roll and plan some creative games, too!
In addition to the extravagant displays and handouts, you have to plan plenty of entertainment. We had photo boards and a bean bag toss in the yard, but the biggest joy was probably …
the train ride! The conductor had a short train, painted and decorated for children’s fascination and participated in full conductor garb. One highlight of the party for the birthday girl (and Mom) was when he let her wear the coveted conductor gear for a photo opportunity!
He did a great job of playing with all the kids and making the parents get involved, too!
The final key to our perfect party: CONFETTI! Do you know any child that does not rejoice at the sight of a mess? Probably not.
We partnered with a representative from Mr. Rooter® for this event and are proud to give credit to Fawn Barlow for putting on a fantastic party for her little girl. We wish you a happy birthday, Addison! Don’t forget to check out the Mr. Rooter® blog.
