Summer is a time for lounging about waiting for the heat to pass then lighting up the night with good friends and stories. Unfortunately, you aren’t the only one trying to thwart the summer heat …. all the buzzing pests do the same. For this reason we often line our patios and porches with the classically traditional tiki torch or citronella candle.
Both have come a long way in regard to aesthetics, but the bug repellents you would happily display around your guests will often cost a pretty penny more than the standard ones. There have been a lot of wine bottle crafts flying around Pinterest, but we particularly like this classy citronella candle from When Pigs Fly.
She threw some lovely deco rocks in the bottom of a wine vase, filled the remainder with citronella fluid, lined a wick and used a washer to finish the job and hold the wick in place. We think it turned out beautifully! Plus, if you need some empty wine bottles for this craft call a girls’ night and toast the evening … in honor of crafting, of course.
Check out exactly how she did it here and don’t forget to leave her some blog love!
