Kitchen Fire Safety

In case of a kitchen fire, avoid reacting to your natural instinct to use water to put out the flames. Water on flaming fat or oil will only intensify the fire. Instead, reach for a lid and cover the fire. As a backup, toss a handful of salt or baking soda on the flames.  If outside, turn off the heat and extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher. If that doesn’t put out the flames, call 911 immediately.
