Hydroelectricity has History
Hydroelectricity has been around for many years and is one of our original energy sources. Thousands of years ago, many eastern countries, namely the Chinese and the Mongols, began using water from rivers and streams to turn paddles in order to power mills, grinding up grain. In 1880, a water turbine at a chair factory was used to generate electricity in order to power lamps. Two years later, the first hydroelectric power plant in the United States opened in Wisconsin.
