Installing a Smoke Alarm

Installing a Smoke Alarm

Install one smoke alarm inside every bedroom, just outside each bedroom and one on each level of the house.  This includes the basement. If using hard-wired alarms, connect all the devices in the house so if one goes off, they all go off.  To ensure that your smoke alarms can properly detect fires, do not install them near bathrooms, heating appliances, windows or ceiling fans.  For electrical smoke detectors be sure to have them installed by a certified electrician, such as the service professionals at Mr. Electric.  After installation, don’t throw the instructions out. You will need them for testing and maintenance.
