The Different Needs of Lawns
Before beginning a fertilizing regimen, consider the different needs of your lawn. High-traffic areas usually require more fertilizer than low-traffic areas. As well as, different species of grass have different needs. Kentucky bluegrass, for example, requires more nitrogen than fine leaf fescues.
If bluegrass doesn’t get enough nitrogen, it is less competitive against weeds and pests. If fine leaf fescues (which normally grow slowly) get too much nitrogen, it then produces lush, weak growth that is susceptible to pests.
For best results, consult with a grounds care professional, such as The Grounds Guys® for assistance on determining the different needs of your lawn.
