How to Safely Remove a Broken Lightbulb
First, turn off the lamp and unplug it from the power source. If it’s an overhead light, just switch the light off. Grab needle nose pliers and grip the metal lip of the remaining bulb. If the bulb is above your head, make sure you’re on a ladder and glass can’t fall on you. In the case of a bulb above your head, consider putting on safety goggles to protect your eyes from falling glass. Gently unscrew the bulb, while being careful not to cut your hands on glass remnants. Remove the bulb base from the socket and discard what’s left. Be sure to vacuum up all the broken pieces.
