Stained Glass

Stained Glass

Stained glass is colored glass, often used in windows of churches and other significant buildings. The colored glass is created by adding metallic oxides to the glass. Then, for windows and other stained glass pieces, small pieces of glass are arranged to form patterns or pictures. The pieces are traditionally held together with some sort of metal. In the late Middle Ages, stained glass primarily showed pictures of Bible stories. Uneducated churchgoers could see the Bible, since they couldn’t read it.
