Revive and Renew
Sweep out winter blahs with an in-home spa treatment.
Story by Maria Schwamman
Is there a job that seems too tough to tackle this
season? Treat yourself to a spring break—you
won’t need an exotic locale. Try a bubble bath
and our fruity facial in the comfort of your own
bathroom. Afterward, you’ll be ready to spring
into action! And your spirits—not to mention
your skin—will thank you for it.
Set the mood. Open the windows (if the weather
allows) and breathe deeply. Bask in the soothing
glow of natural lighting. Then, dress the part. Think
soft robe and slippers.
Raid the Fridge for a Facial
You won’t have to look far—or break
the bank—to find the ingredients you need.
Baking soda, green tea bags, yogurt and lemon juice
contain healing and restorative properties. You can
find dozens of facial formulas on the Web to give
your skin the moisturizing boost it needs after a
long winter.
ALOHA HONEY HAWAIIAN DELIGHT
(courtesy of National Honey Board)
Makes 2 facial treatments
- 2 tablespoons green tea
- ½ ripe papaya (mango may be substituted)
- ½ cup fresh pineapple, diced
- 2 tablespoons honey
Steep green tea in boiling water. Set aside to
cool. Peel papaya wedge and remove seeds. In blender
or food processor, blend papaya and pineapple until
pureed. Pour into glass bowl; add honey and green
tea. Mix well. Apply to face with fan brush or fingertips.
Recline and rest for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove completely
with tepid water and soft facial cloth. Store in
covered container in refrigerator for up to one week.
NOTE: To avoid a widespread allergic reaction,
always test a mask on a small part of your skin before
applying to your entire face.

her own advice and whipped up some Aloha Honey Hawaiian
Delight facial...then promptly planted a pineapple
